summary- Tom Cosgrove has had H.I.V sine the day he was born when he was only 3 years old people would tell him that he was going to die, and this kept going on till he turned 6, then 8, then 10, and now he is 20 years old! Tom is considered to be the longest living person with H.I.V in his state, but every year it keeps getting harderand harder for tom when he was only 8 years old his mom and new born baby brother died from H.I.Vhe became so angry he eventualy ended up throwning a chair at his teacher. His classmates became so paranoid about his diease noone ever shook his hand or sat at the same table as him.He could not join basketball teams or go to karate classes, the medication that he would make school work and job prospects diffcult.
Reaction-Wow!!!thats really sad he was born with H.I.V everybody always stayed away from him, and he was having trouble with school work and job prospects becaues of the medication he was taking oh and also his terrible how when he was only 8 years old his mom and new born baby brother died from H.I.V, that was really irresponsible knowing that she already had a child born with H.I.V and then having another. I really feel bad for him.

It is so shocking to read that their is someone that surived with H.I.V. that long.I am surprised because I had a family member die at an early age from H.I.V.
ReplyDeleteThis is just amazing how that kid survive from the H.I.V
ReplyDeleteOMG i've never heard of this before.I've heard of a person living from H.I.V for maxium of like 11 yrs,but that's bcus he's been taking some weird H.I.V pill or whatever like his entire life.BTW I loved the article & your reaction as well.I also thought that it wasn't that smart for the mom to have another baby, because then the baby will only come to this earth to suffer with the disease that he or she has instead of enjoying life...right?
ReplyDeleteWow, such interesting reactions.
ReplyDeleteWIth all of the advances in medicine today, people diagnosed with HIV are able to liver much longer and normal lives. We as a society should do everything we can to make sure these individuals are treated with respect and dignity.
Unfortunately, so many people are misinformed about HIV/AIDS. My friend doing the Peace Corps in Africa told me there are people who believe HIV is a punishment from God.
