Lehman High School get an 'F' -- Students, teachers fear closure's next

Summary: This article is about the horrible job that Herbert H. Lehman High School is doing in teaching the students, they got an F! According to the article, one of the main reasons why they got this is because only 20% of all the students are passing the Regents exams. The other reason is because the teachers don't even trust Dr. Janet Sarceno, the principal, who is under investigation by the DOE because it's rumored that she passed students who failed the courses so they would get a higher graduation rate.

Reaction: I think it's really sad how they're fouling Lehman's name. I'm sure that if he was alive he probably would be ashamed because of this. I mean, sure he'd be happy to have a high school named after him, but not an unsuccessful one.

As H.I.V. Babies Come of Age, Problems Linger

Summary:What I have read is that this boy had HIV since he was born he has been told that he would die at age 3 then age 6,age 8,age 10 but still alive now at the age of 20 he is the longest living person born with HIV in his state but his life was still a struggle.When little has a toddler he lived at a shelter for people born with HIV has going up he saw others die aids killed his mother and his newborn brother.At the age of 8 his body started to reject the medicine and couldn't walk sometimes he would rage with anger once he even strike his teacher.His classmates treat him like an outcast they don't shake his hand and they don't sit with him at the lunch table even they're parents forbade them to visit he can't even take classes like karate or basketball.


Reaction:I can't believe what I am reading but I'm happy that he was able to survive to now at 20 but how he struggled is just such an impact to my heart of how life went as he grew up.

Fly-by of Comet Sets NASA Astir

Summary: This intresting article is about the pictures of a new fly-by commet that the high-speed-antenna caught and sent toward Earth. It tells about the new hope that NASA has into discovering how the planets were formed. The commet was named Epoxy, which is a combination of two acronyms which are Epoch and Dixie. It also tells the main reason why they study commets, which is to find out how each Planet was formed.

Reaction: I think that it's really cool that they have an idea to find out how each of the nine planets was formed, it got me excited just the thought of finally knowing how Planet Earth got to be what it is now. I hope it works.

Haiti: Cholera slows but fears of spread remain

Summery:In Puerto Principe, Haiti their is a BIG cholera that have know caused 259 deaths. This cholera is affecting a big part of this country. Doctors say that this may be caused by contaminaded water. The number of fears in this country has incress seens this. This has also let 3,342 people affected. Only 81 people took a medical test to diagnose the outbreak. Haiti has not seen a cholera for about half a century now.

Reation: This is alot of people affected and just a few people that took a medical test. This is tragic. An outbreak of cholera has to come from something that the whole entiere coutry is using. I also belive it might be the contaminated water, because in all around that country there's contamitated water. Even sometimes people drink water from the floor.

in current events a women named many rivera bought a toyota lexus sedan.she was not familiar with modern technology so one night she arrived at her house and since she didnt hear the motor running i guess she left it on.still if she didnt hear the motor running the front of the car could of still been moving.The muffler could of been on and she could of seen it moving.Anyway she left the car on and the carbon monoxide spread from her garage to her whole house. while her and her and her husband were sleeping both of them sniffed it and her husband died but she lived but she got brain damage and she cant talk now.Now there sueing the toyota company for their foolishness.

summary : So Obama decides to visit India . But WAY long ago there was a man named Gahndi . Gahndi had became SUPER important to India , because he made people see the difference and beauty in the world . Gahndi also helped create peace . Obama then suddenly became inspired by Gahndi . It made him think about war and making peace . But when he visited India , Gahndi wasn't as much worshiped than before . Obama then made people in India remember Gahndi , and helped . In India the economy is growing better and bigger also .

Reaction : Gahndi has also inspired me . From such a poor childhood and grew up in not that much of a wealthy place he did gain richness . Wisdom , it made him be forever remembered and inspired by people from all around the world .

Dead Coral Found Near Site of Oil Spill

Summary:In this article they found dead coral near the oil spill the coral sites were at least 3miles away from the oil spill, the corals don't form singles they form in sites so that means that the coral were being extinguished in large numbers coral sites were found 7miles from the southwest from the at a depth of 4,500ft at a site were large oils plumes were discovered were they were drifting through the ocean the big areas of were the darkened coral and other things that were damaged like marine organisms from exposure of toxic substances. They were found on Tuesday on a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration research vessel while using a sea sub robot with cameras and tools with samples these founding are very relevant in this circumstance

Reaction: It would be very surprising if they did not find anything damaged or dead from the oil spill its obvious that it did a severe amount of damage to the oceanic environment this is not the last of all the dead things that are being discovered =(

Man in disguise boards international flight

Summary: This "unbelievable" article is about a man disguising himself as an old man to go from China to Canada. This happened on October 29 on the flight number ACO18. The people who were known as the alerts , said that the man looked caucasian but had very younq looking hands. They took him to a place called the washroom and found out that it was a man in his early 20's. However while going through the mans luggage they found his personal clothes on the first suitcase, on the second one , they found gloves and a disquise kit with a head and neck mask , a brown leather hat, glasses and brown cardigans.
Reaction: This is just ridiculous and unsagacious to do because theres no point of disguisinq yourself to do that unless you are in any kind of trouble with the country. Eitherway even if a was, i wouldnt do it because i know that i wouldve gotten caught.

My reaction:WoW! the man tried to get away with pretending to be an elderly man but he couldnt.I feel bad for this man who is still unidentified to who his name is and so on.

Shuttle launch off until end of month to fix leak

Summary~Shuttle Discovery's final trip to space has been delayed until the end of November because of problems in its fuel tank. It has been canceled already 4 times in this week. They have been wanted to launch it but its taking some time to fix the shuttle. Discovery was very close to being launched friday but there was another problem to fix in its fuel tank. Only 3 astronauts will aboard Discovery unlike 6 when its been fixed.

Reaction~This doesnt really surprise me since Discovery has been NASA'S most traveled and oldest shuttle. I would have expected Discovery to have some situatins needing to be fixed because of this.
